Size the driver properly. It is the part that fails first.

Enter your run length and the strip's watts per metre. We add 20% headroom and tell you which 24V driver to buy.

The Simple Rule

Length × watts per metre, plus 20%.

Multiply your strip length by its rated watts per metre — 12W/m on KAYVA 480 Pro — then add 20% headroom so the driver isn't running at full capacity. A driver running flat-out runs hot and fails early. Check the W/m figure on your strip's spec sheet; generic strip is often rated optimistically.

For runs 6 m and longer, power the strip from both ends or split it into segments with separate feeds. This prevents voltage drop, where the far end of a long run appears dimmer than the start.

What Driver To Buy

Three things to get right.

24V constant voltage

Not constant current, not 12V. Constant-current drivers will not run strip correctly.

TRIAC-dimmable, if dimming

The strip does not dim on its own — the driver does. Pair it with a compatible wall dimmer.

Licensed electrician for mains

Required in Singapore. The low-voltage side — driver to strip — is safe to handle unpowered.
